AMTA Member Qualifications

Qualifications for Professional, Graduate and Student memberships.

Professional Qualifications

You must have state or provincial licensure (where applicable) and one or more of the following:

  1. Completed a supervised minimum 500-hour massage therapy educational program (or substantial equivalent) that meets the qualifications for licensure or other authorized practice.

  2. Proof of current state or provincial licensure (where applicable).

  3. Certification by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.

Additionally, AMTA members adhere to a professionally recognized Code of Ethics and standards of practice.

Graduate Qualifications

Have you graduated from your massage therapy educational program in the past year?

If yes, then you qualify with a state or provincial licensure (where applicable) and one or more of the following:

  1. Completed a supervised minimum 500-hour massage therapy educational program (or substantial equivalent) that meets the qualifications for licensure or other authorized practice.

  2. Proof of current state or provincial licensure (where applicable).

  3. Certification by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.

Join as a Graduate

 

Student Qualifications

  1. Be enrolled in a massage therapy educational program that meets the qualifications for licensure or other authorized practice in the state or province where you reside or will practice.

  2. Adhere to professionally recognized Code of Ethics.

Upon graduation, you will need to upgrade to a graduate membership to continue receiving AMTA benefits.
