About Mary

MER Therapy is a healing therapy that uses massage and finger pressure to release spasm in muscles that have trigger points. Trigger points often form in muscles that have been overloaded or injured. A trigger point is a hyperirritable spot that is painful when touched. It is called a trigger point because it "triggers" a painful response when pressed into. Trigger points affect not only the muscle where the trigger point is located, but also causes "referred pain" in tissues supplied by the same nerves. Therefore, although you feel pain in one area, the trigger point could be elsewhere in the body suppled by the same nerve branch. Nervous system release is also an important part of MER Therapy. PRRT (Primal Reflex Release Therapy) is used to relax the nervous system. Muscle Energy Techniques (MET) are used to release the muscles that have been held in a state of chronic tension. Mary Ringel is the founder of MER Therapy. If you need a massage therapist who will take care of your specific muscle pain - you've come to the right place. Hourly rate is $110/hr - beginnining in March, 2014, there will be an increase to $130/hr. This rate includes deep tissue massage during the entire session if found necessary to reduce chronic tension.
