I use a variety of techniques in my massage work intended to most effectively work with you toward your goals for well being. I welcome your input before, during and after the massage so I can work best within your body’s needs and tolerances. I am always adding new techniques, but following is an explanation of the basic techniques I use:
Swedish Relaxation Massage Gentle quiet relaxing massage –sheets used to drape during the session uncovering only the body part being worked on –undress to your comfort level-not symptom focused
Therapeutic Deep Tissue Focused on discomfort relief-frequent communication between the client and therapist during the session is necessary. Several sessions may be needed to achieve treatment goal.
Sports Massage Short invigorating massage before sports or exercise, and/or stretching after.
Chair massage Short relaxing massage focused on upper body, can include hand and arm massage with lotion
Myofacial Therapy (myo = muscle/facial= fascia is the connective tissue that hold us together) Firm, directed pressure is used as the therapist works through to the deeper layers to relive soft tissue holding patterns- especially helpful as rehabilitative treatment- Communication between the client and therapist during the session is necessary.
