About Briannon

I am a 2008 graduate of the Soma Institute of Clinical Massage Therapy.  As a Clinical Massage Therapist my focus is on pain relief and healing. I specialize in Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular and Myofascial therapies with additional training in Swedish and Sports Massage. Part of my time spent at Soma was an externship at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, where I spent most of my time working with postpartum mamas.  I also earned a BFA From Eastern Michigan University in Fiber Arts & Art History.

Because of the poor care I received at the beginning of my first pregnancy, I started educating myself and became an advocate for education and empowerment during pregnancy, child birth, and breastfeeding.  The knowledge I gained helped me make the decision to switch care providers and to follow a more natural home birth plan. Unfortunately that birth experience did not turn out how I had expected. I did not lose faith in myself or the birthing process and I trusted that my birth experience turned out the way it had to.  I have continued to be an advocate. This past June I had a home birth after cesarian; my son was born safely into my partner’s arms.

I believe that human touch has both emotional and physical benefits.  According to Miami’s Touch Research Institute, touch lessens pain, improves pulmonary function, increases growth in infants, lowers blood glucose and improves immune function.  It is my goal to use my massage education and knowledge of the childbearing year to help women, their partners, and their babies; to use my touch to support, to heal, to comfort and to relax those I work with.
