About Doug

The focus of my practice is to teach my clients how to focus their own body's healing ability on the neuromuscular dysfunctions (including "trigger points") that limit them.  My physical approach is exceptionally gentle, as I include myself in a conversation with your body's Central Nervous System, proceeding based upon what your body tells me.  I educate during each session, giving you a frame of reference to understand what I am doing and more importantly, what you can do to get your own mechanisms engaged where you most need them.  The principles are as ancient as yoga (stretching with breathing), and as modern as the biopsychosocial model's application in Pain Science.
When I see a new client for the first time, we book a 90-minute session.  We spend the first 30 minutes reviewing your health history and the specifics that brought you to me.  I do not charge you for this evaluation. If my assessment is that my treatment could help you, we develop a treatment plan and do a 60 minute massage therapy session.  Subsequent sessions are 60 minutes.
I am a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist (CMTPT); as well as a California Massage Therapy Council Certified Massage Therapist (CAMTC #44401, see  I am an Honors Graduate of the both the National Holistic Institute's 900-hour Certification as a Massage Therapist and Health Educator, and of NHI's 450-hour Certification as an Advanced Neuromuscular Massage Therapist (ANMT).
