I am part of an interventional pain management team that takes a multi modal/ non-narcotic approach to coping with pain. Pain management is dedicated to an integrated approach to chronic pain. Studies have shown that massage therapy is one of the fastest growing non-pharmacological interventions that can be effective in pain management. Not only is massage therapy used for pain management, but it can be used as a tool for preventive care as well.
