Pre-Convention Workshops

Immerse yourself in one of these intensive hands-on Pre-Convention Workshops designed to grow your massage therapy skill set.

8am-5pm | 8 Credit Hours

Massage Therapy for Neck, Shoulder, and Upper Extremity Pain  (Hands-on with table)

Jeffrey Forman PhD BCTMB, CMT taught massage therapy for many years. Currently retired, he now serves as vice chair of the California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC) and chair of the CAMTC’s schools advisory committee, in addition to maintaining an active schedule as a speaker, author, consultant and researcher.

Neck, shoulder and upper extremity pain can be caused by physical, psychosocial and/or stress factors. The pain often requires a multi-faceted approach including massage therapy and a variety of other methods such as stretching, IASTM and strengthening. In this workshop, students will review commonly occurring pathologies and different techniques for alleviating pain. Students will be encouraged to use critical thinking skills to assess when each technique is appropriate.
