Arizona Massage Board Renewal Secured Through 2031

June 25, 2025

AMTA is excited to share that the Arizona State Board of Massage Therapy will continue through 2031. The language from Senate Bill 1656, which authorizes the Board’s renewal, was successfully added to a larger package of legislation—House Bill 2313. Late last night, HB 2313 passed both the House and Senate and now heads to the Governor’s desk for final approval.

This key victory followed an unusual week at the Arizona Capitol, where the Senate abruptly adjourned on June 20 without passing a budget or key bills like SB 1656. The House reconvened on June 23 to avoid a government shutdown, rejected the Senate's adjournment, and worked behind the scenes toward a budget deal before the June 30 deadline, prompting the Senate’s expected return.

During this period of uncertainty, AMTA’s lobbyists and Government Relations Team acted swiftly and strategically to keep the Massage Board’s continuation on track. Their persistence and bold action ensured that massage therapists in Arizona remain protected under a functioning regulatory board.
