Oklahoma Massage Therapists: Your Voice Is Needed on HB 3000

May 11, 2026

Oklahoma House Bill 3000 (HB 3000), which would extend the sunset date of the Oklahoma Board of Cosmetology and Barbering—where massage therapists are currently regulated—has been sent to Governor Stitt's desk.

HB 3000 would also eliminate the Massage Therapy Advisory Board and add a Licensed Massage Therapist as a full member of the Board of Cosmetology and Barbering. AMTA has consistently advocated for these changes because they would give massage therapists direct decision-making authority, rather than serving solely in an advisory capacity.

This bill represents an important step forward for Oklahoma massage therapists by helping ensure high standards are upheld across the state and that the profession is represented by practicing professionals.

We urge all Oklahoma massage therapists to reach out to Governor Stitt before May 12 and request that he prioritize signing HB 3000 into law.
