Adrienne Asta Receives John Balletto Distinguished Service Award

June 9, 2025

AMTA would like to congratulate Adrienne F. Asta, the 2025 recipient of the John Balletto Distinguished Service Award. This award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service to the massage profession through volunteer work on behalf of the Massage Therapy Foundation (MTF).

Adrienne truly embodies the spirit of this award, starting as an MTF Community Service Committee volunteer in 2007, joining the Board of Trustees in 2017, and serving as Board President from 2022-2025. Her longstanding commitment highlights her dedication to MTF’s mission and to advancing the massage profession.

Adding to the excitement, MTF Past President John Balletto, LMT, after whom the award is named, presented the honor to Adrienne on April 27, 2025 at MTF’s International Massage Therapy Research Conference (IMTRC) in Alexandria, Virginia.

In her acceptance speech, Adrienne reflected on the importance of sharing the profession’s impact:

“We have a responsibility to let people know about the work we do, this conference [IMTRC], the case reports, the literature; this is how we contribute to the conversation. It means a lot to me as a massage therapist doing this work every day.”

Congratulations again to Adrienne Asta for this well-deserved recognition and for her countless contributions to the massage therapy community. AMTA is proud to support the research endeavors of MTF and the dedicated individuals who make it all happen.
