My work is a combination of Myofascial Release and Craniosacral Therapy. I am trained in the John Barnes’ Myofascial Release approach where I learned that the craniosacral system is the deepest layer of the fascial system. I became fascinated with this subtle layer of the human body, and have been delving deeper into this field in recent years. I am certified in “Riding the Wave, Touching Stillness,” a Craniosacral program with a Biodynamic approach.
Myofascial Release helps release painful restrictions in connective tissue due to posture, surgery, muscular-skeletal imbalances, or trauma. Craniosacral therapy focuses on the movement of the cerebrospinal fluid in the brain and spinal cord, promotes vascular flow in an out of the cranium, and is deeply calming to the nervous system. In both modalities, the therapist holds space for the client’s body intelligence to move towards health. As a therapist, I listen and follow the client’s tissue. Sometimes there is more “doing” on my part, other times I just hold the stillness. There is a consciousness that is deeply felt in this work, and I like to think of it as the client’s all-knowing and completely healthy nature healing what got in the way. In this fashion the most important ingredient I give a client is my presence.
Myofascial Release and Craniosacral therapy are great modalities to address muscular-skeletal issues, trauma, injuries from auto or other accidents, back pain, other chronic and acute pain, TMJ dysfunction, neurological conditions, migraine headaches, stress, anxiety, vertigo, integration of physical/emotional/spiritual issues, and to reclaim balance and well-being.
In addition to bodywork I teach Yin Yoga classes.
