About Karen

Karen graduated from the Massage Therapy program at Southern California University of Health and Sciences in 2012 and is state certified by the California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC).  In 2009, she received her B.A. in Dance with a focus in Movement Studies from Scripps College. During her undergraduate study, she studied mind and body connection and movement modalities such as Alexander Technique, Bartenieff Fundamentals, and Laban Movement Anaylsis.  In 2008, she was awarded The Lucile Phillips Morrison Scholarship where she attended the Moving On Center School of Participatory and Somatic research in Oakland, CA to study Bartenieff Fundamentals with Peggy Hackney, and Alexander Technique and Somatic Therapy with Carol Swann. With her educational background, Karen uses an integrated approach to customize each massage to the client’s needs.  If you are coming in for a relaxing massage or in hopes of alleviating specific ailments such as trigger points and chronic muscular pain, Karen is confident you will feel better after the massage.  In addition to traditional Swedish and Deep Tissue, she also has training in hot stone massage, reflexology, and prenatal massage. In the future, Karen hopes to attend graduate school to study Occupational Therapy.
