About
I am Gerie Bell, Licensed Massage Therapist, Jin Shin Jyutsu Practitioner, and Ortho-Bionomy Associate. My goal for you, my client, in a session of my work is deep relaxation, enhanced body awareness, pain relief, increased ability to cope with stress, improved sleep, and the easing of any chronic conditions you may be experiencing.
I draw from over 25 years experience, using various massage modalities, and energy-balancing approaches---including deep-tissue massage and myo-fascial release, neuromuscular therapy, basic Swedish massage, Shiatsu and cranio-sacral therapy. Most often, my focus will be with Jin Shin Jyutsu (see https://www.jsjinc.com), and/or Ortho-Bionomy (see https://www.Ortho-Bionomy.org).
The gentle touch of Jin Shin Jyutsu can introduce profound shifts in your physical and emotional body, both in pain reduction and overall well-being, always supporting and enhancing energy flow in your body, sharing much in theoretical framework with 5-Element Acupuncture. Ortho-Bionomy is a movement-based, positional-release approach, developed by an osteopath, with a focus on freedom of movement and pain reduction--often pain elimination, and can be quite amazing in how it eases joint restrictions.
In a session, I may focus on one of these approaches, or I may use a combination of several, depending on your needs, preferences and responses. If time allows, I will share powerful, simple self helps of Jin Shin Jyutsu and/or Ortho-Bionomy; daily self help can greatly support each session’s work and assist in maintaining/improving your overall health and well being.
My professional credentials: Maryland Licensed Massage Therapist, Jin Shin Jyutsu Practitioner, Associate in Ortho-Bionomy, Board Certified in Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork, American Massage Therapy Association member since 1992.
Regarding life experiences, I am mother of two grown children and grandmother of three. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (Morgan State University, 1980). Today, in 2020, I strive to keep a sane balance between my concerns and activities involving social justice issues and my love and ongoing study and practice of this Integrative Body Therapies work I provide.
