Message from Board President Dolly Wallace

Fall Update - Convention and More

September was an exciting month where we gathered as a profession at the AMTA 2017 National Convention in beautiful Pasadena, California. It was our largest convention in the history of AMTA! Celebrity trainer Shaun T started the convention with a message on self-care. He had the entire audience on its feet and moving. He encouraged us to push ourselves to our new personal best. He said when we exercise or lift weights, we lift ourselves.

Once again, the networking and educational experiences were exceptional. We had the largest number of students to ever attend Student Day.

At the closing, author and inspirational speaker Shawn Achor talked about the connection between happiness and success and how we can make positive changes through a focus on happiness.

Visit the convention wrap-up page to experience or relive the excitement of this great event!

In October, your three presidents - Joan Nichols (President-Elect), Nathan Nordstrom (Immediate Past President), and I - attended the Academy of Pain Management Annual Meeting to further our relationships with multidisciplinary organizations.

We continue to work to establish greater visibility, participation and influence of AMTA in the health care community so those in the industry understand the benefits of massage therapy and the value of working with massage therapists. We continually work to create better practice environments for massage therapists working in all settings - from spas to hospitals, from athletic clubs to chiropractic offices, from franchises to private practice. AMTA supports you wherever you practice.

Thank you everyone for all you do for AMTA and for our profession.

Dolly Wallace
National President
