Join Team MTF—Running For Research

John Hancock has once again awarded the Massage Therapy Foundation (MTF) with three charity bibs for the Boston Marathon, set to take place on April 20, 2015. We are now taking applications for runners who would like to participate and raise money for the Foundation. Last year, the amazing team included AMTA's representative Kristen Lutz, Kathy Laskye, and Karen Moers. Kathy Borsuk, Tom Heidenberger, and Les Sweeney from the 2013 Team MTF also took on the marathon challenge in this historic event.

Put on your running shoes to support the Massage Therapy Foundation!
The application deadline is December 1, 2014.

2015 Grants and Contests

The Massage Therapy Foundation offers many opportunities to advance the massage therapy profession. Three different options are available:

  • Research Grants-funds research studies investigating the beneficial applications of massage therapy. Awards are up to $30,000. Deadline to apply: Monday, March 2, 2015.
  • Community Service Grants-awarded to charitable organizations that provide massage therapy to those having no or little access to such services. Awards are up to $5,000. Deadline to apply: Thursday, April 1, 2015.
  • Practitioner and Student Case Report Contests-intended to enhance professional development and research skills. Deadline to apply: Practitioner Case Reports-Thursday, October 1, 2015, Student Case Reports-Monday, June, 1, 2015.

Save the date for the 2016 International Massage Therapy Research Conference

The Massage Therapy Foundation (MTF) is proud to host the 2016 International Massage Therapy Research Conference (IMTRC) which will take place May 12-15, 2016, at the Renaissance ® Seattle Hotel in Seattle, Washington.
This is the fourth research conference hosted by the Massage Therapy Foundation, bringing together massage and manual therapy practitioners, educators, CIM researchers, allied health professionals, and others interested in massage research. Learn more about our previous conferences here. We will be announcing more details in the coming months, including a call for presenters, and ways to sponsor this important event. Stay tuned for updates.

Thank You to All Who Sponsored and Participated in the 2014 Golf Outing and Donor Reception

The Massage Therapy Foundation enjoyed a great week in Denver, Colorado at the 2014 AMTA National Convention. On Wednesday, September 17th, more than 40 golfers played in the 4th annual MTF Fundraiser hosted by Performance Health. We would like to thank all of the sponsors and participants that made this day a huge success!

On Friday, September 19th, the Foundation thanked donors for a great year and received significant donations from our sustaining benefactor AMTA and also from Massage Envy, Massage Warehouse, and Performance Health. Additionally, Performance Health honored Mary White with the 2014 Performance Health/Massage Therapy Foundation Humanitarian Award. Performance Health also generously donated $2,500 to the Foundation in her name. Jan Schwartz was also given the Massage Therapy Foundation Distinguished Service Award.
