We’re Spreading the Word!
It's been an amazing few months since I took on the role as your president in March. Along with the rest of the AMTA National Board of Directors and our countless volunteers, we’ve been working hard to share the health benefits of massage therapy and continue to promote the value of AMTA members.
One way that we elevate our members and our mission is through our multi-faceted, dynamic Consumer Awareness Program, now in its second year. In fact, we’re already halfway through this year’s AMTA Massage Therapy Tour, the hands-on component of the program. The Tour has already visited six cities and reached nearly 600,000 consumers about the health benefits of massage and how to find an AMTA member! I can’t begin to express how much this program has meant for our profession and AMTA members, and I’m honored to be a part of it. We’re literally putting members in front of massage therapy consumers, connecting you with potential clients, and sharing research on massage that truly resonates with the public and the health care community.
This outreach is all about showing the value of AMTA members and educating the public about the unique, real and specific benefits of massage therapy. This extensive outreach program makes it an incredible time to be a member of AMTA! You can read some of the recaps of our Tour and about the cities we’ve visited here and view our media placements here. I’m so proud of the AMTA members that have made the second year of this program such a success. Don’t forget, you can visit the AMTA Tour van at the AMTA 2013 National Convention, September 25-28 in Fort Worth, Texas.
June Board Meeting: Working Together, Working for You
I’m so fortunate to serve as president with such a great group of directors on the national board. We wrapped up our second board meeting of the year in Milwaukee during the first weekend of June. Our discussions were strategic and all our decisions were made with our members’ practices and futures in mind. Our strategic plan, developed with input from members, guides us in every action that we take. We are focused on how we can better serve our members and what resources we can develop to ensure your continued success as massage practitioners. This is a member-driven organization; all of the conversations at our meetings directly relate back to how we can make your experience as a member more rewarding and relevant. Our vision statement is clear and underscores every motive: “As the most trusted professionals in massage therapy, American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) members are integral to health care and wellness.”
And, I want to truly thank all of the chapter presidents who made it to the meeting and participated in the round table discussion. You helped us explore ways to make our meeting both fun and focused! Thank you for your energy—you make AMTA the amazing organization it is!
Connect with me in Texas!
Registration is now open for our AMTA 2013 National Convention in Fort Worth, Texas. This is the opportunity to come together with our community of massage and to connect with like-minded professionals. AMTA’s education is unparalleled. Each year that I attend, I find I leave with new friends, enhanced knowledge and an enriched appreciation for our profession. So, I encourage you to dust off your cowboy boots and join me to Engage. Connect. Thrive. in Fort Worth this September!
