Chapter Leaders Shine at CVOP

AMTA hosted the eleventh annual Chapter Volunteer Orientation Program (CVOP) in Evanston, Illinois, July 12-15. Eighty-three chapter officers representing 48 chapters took part in the training.

Chapter Relations Committee Chair Chris Voltarel kicked off CVOP on Thursday afternoon with a rousing welcome speech. Additionally, President-elect Winona Bontrager was on hand to welcome attendees on behalf of the national board. In keeping with theme “Elevate Your Chapter!” facilitator, Jill McCrory of Leadership Outfitters gave the keynote presentation “Elevate! How Effective Leadership Mirrors Hot Air Ballooning.”

On Friday, Steve Swafford of Leadership Outfitters further inspired chapter leaders with a presentation on systems thinking. The morning concluded with a lengthy presentation and question and answer session on association basics and risk management.

This year’s attendees had a unique opportunity to be a part of the launch of the AMTA Consumer Awareness Program and Massage Therapy Tour.  After a presentation by Jocelyn Pysarchuk, AMTA Director of Knowledge Transfer, attendees were sent outside with the surprise arrival of the AMTA van which is a key component of the Massage Therapy Tour.

On Saturday, staff returned for an in-depth Q&A about the Consumer Awareness Program and Massage Therapy Tour.
