I am! As you read this, OUR AMTA is doing more than ever to increase the public’s awareness about massage therapy, educate consumers about the many health benefits of massage, and promote AMTA member massage therapists.
Consumer Awareness Program
Last month, we announced our Consumer Awareness Program featuring the AMTA Massage Therapy Tour kicking off July 12 in Chicago. What an exciting time to be a part of AMTA and the massage profession! I couldn’t be more thrilled to be your president at such a pivotal time for our association and massage therapy. In the coming weeks, you will hear, watch and learn so much more about this new promotional campaign aimed at increasing the public’s awareness of massage therapy and the visibility of AMTA. I can’t wait to get started!
How can you get involved? AMTA will be hitting the road to visit several different large-scale venues in the mid-west and mid-Atlantic region over the next several weeks to share the benefits of massage with millions of people through direct interaction, education and massage demonstrations. Members will have an opportunity to provide chair massage at these highly visible events where they can also promote their own practices, share their expertise, and demonstrate their skills. This is a multi-year initiative and the first time we have ever done an awareness program of this scale and with so much public interaction for our members. We have already been interviewed by CNN and U.S. News & World Report. Articles about massage therapy generated by AMTA have been picked up by the Wall Street Journal and many other major publications. And this is just the beginning!
AMTA 2012 National Convention
As the consumer tour makes its way to Raleigh, North Carolina—the final stop on the AMTA Massage Therapy Tour–all members can come together under one roof to elevate our profession at the AMTA 2012 National Convention. We have 35 continuing education courses, specialized programming options, a return of the popular Student Day, and a huge exhibit hall filled with hundreds of new and tried and true products. There are more opportunities than ever to network, learn and grow together. I personally look forward to welcoming you to Raleigh as we celebrate our many successes over this past year and all of the hard work it has taken (for many, many years) to get our profession to where it stands today.
Last month, I was able to meet with some of our very passionate chapter members in Indianapolis at our very successful National Board of Directors Meeting. We shared ideas, exchanged invaluable information, and geared up for the National Convention and consumer campaign. I hope to meet many more of our ambitious members in Raleigh this October.
This is just the start of a very exciting time for AMTA members. Join us on tour and in Raleigh to learn more about our incredible programs we’re involved in and how you can help to elevate our profession!
