AMTA was represented at the first annual Hospital Based Integrative Health Care Conference: Transforming Health Care Practice presented by Penny George Institute for Health and Healing. The conference covered topics on transforming health care, integrative hospital based massage therapy, mind-body medicine, CAM research in a hospital setting, guided imagery and other therapies.
The Penny George Institute provides integrative medicine at Abbott Northwestern Hospital for inpatients and at an outpatient clinic. They are a national leader in integrative medicine providing over 60,000 inpatient visits from 2004 to 2009.
The Penny George Institute will be presenting an education session "The Role of Massage Therapy Within Integrative Medicine at an Acute Care Hospital" at the AMTA 2010 National Convention in Minneapolis and is part of a sold out, post-convention immersion event on integrated health care.
