September Issue: Continuing Education Options for AMTA Members

Continuing education and keeping current are important to your massage therapy career and your professional success. Acquiring continuing education (CE) hours is necessary to maintain your Professional membership and for national certification, and it is required by many states. AMTA works hard to encourage life-long learning for our members, to support your professional growth and keep you and your practice competitive in a rapidly changing marketplace.

We want to remind all members that beginning with the first full year of AMTA Professional membership, members are required to complete 48 clock hours of CE every four years to retain active Professional membership. We encourage you to login to amtamassage.org and click on "My Credentials."  You can verify what you have submitted and update your CEs to stay current.

Please note, if your record includes an active national certification number, the system may display 48 credit hours in addition to your reported CE hours.

AMTA CE Resources Available for You
We also want to remind you of the many resources AMTA provides to assist you in meeting your continuing education requirements for AMTA or to practice in your state.  These AMTA resources available to you include:
•    Online Education Courses are convenient and available anytime. Choose from 30 courses on business, self-care, ethics and modalities.
•    Education programs through your chapter. Contact your chapter directly, or check the AMTA Events section for upcoming events.
•    AMTA National Convention. It’s not too late to join us in Minneapolis, September 22-25, for one session, one day or a full convention’s worth of education from the country’s top educators. And, plan now to join us in Portland, Oregon, October 17-21, 2011.
•    AMTA Schools Summit, February 17-18, 2011, in San Francisco. Gain invaluable education and networking geared toward AMTA School Members, owners, administrators and teachers.
