AMTA Recognized by Association Group for its Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day Events Efforts

The American Society for Association Executives & The Center (ASAE) has named the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) to its 2010 Associations Advance America (AAA) Honor Roll for its participation in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day events. Among eight AAA categories, AMTA was recognized under the civic and community volunteer activities for drawing on members’ talents and resources to help those in need.

ASAE & The Center’s Associations Advance America (AAA) Awards honor association programs, activities and initiatives that advance society in some aspect. Judges look for how a program moved beyond the association’s “everyday” best practices to truly generate some public benefit

In 2009, more 300 AMTA volunteers massaged 5,464 walkers at 3-Day events nation-wide. Over 1,000 hours of massage were donated to event participants who walked 20 miles per day to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. AMTA is again partnering with Energizer this year to provide chair massage at all fifteen 3-Day events.
