Get Ready for AMTA National Convention

The AMTA 2016 National Convention is October 26-29 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin! We’re excited to come together with the massage therapy profession in Milwaukee. You'll have more opportunities than ever to discover new products and valuable ideas to supplement your practice.

Here are some helpful tips as you prepare for AMTA National Convention.

AMTA 2016 National Convention Location

The Wisconsin Center will host education sessions, the Exhibit Hall, on-site registration/badge pick-up, Student Day and the Dinner Dance. Address: 400 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53203

The Milwaukee Theatre will host the Opening Session & Business Meeting featuring Robin Roberts. Address: 500 W. Kilbourn Ave., Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53203

The Hilton Milwaukee City Center will host the Closing Session Bringing Home the Gold: Olympians + Massage. Address: 509 W Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53203

Travel & Hotel Tips

Transportation: General Mitchell International Airport is about 20 minutes from the convention center. Learn more about ground transportation from the airport.

Get Acclimated

Check In and Badges: When you arrive at the Wisconsin Center, visit AMTA's Registration Desk on the third floor to pick up your badge, education and event tickets and each morning’s Show Daily (we suggest arriving early to avoid the longest lines).

  • Wednesday, October 26: 11am-6pm
  • Thursday, October 27: 7am-6:30pm
  • Friday, October 28: 7am-6pm
  • Saturday, October 29: 7am-12:30pm

Remember, badges are required at all times. Make sure you pick up your registration packet at the Wisconsin Center before Opening Session.

Opening Session with Robin Roberts

The Opening Session and Business Meeting is Thursday, October 27  at 9am at the Milwaukee Theatre (500 W. Kilbourn Ave.). Hear from Good Morning America's Robin Roberts and celebrate our annual awards presentation.

When to Arrive: Doors will open at 8:15am at the Milwaukee Theatre. Please be patient and courteous with other attendees. Remember, attendees must be registered and display their badge at all times.

Get your photo with Robin Roberts! Visit AMTA's booth, #221, following Opening Session and our convention photographer will capture the moment. All photos will be posted to AMTA's Facebook page.

Closing Session: Olympians & Massage Therapy

Closing Session is Saturday, October 29 from 2-4pm at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center (509 W. Wisconsin Ave.).

panel of elite athletes—Bonnie Blair, Alicia Dana, Kerri Strug and Abby Wambach—will share how massage therapy helped them reach their Olympic dreams. The Mayo Clinic’s Dr. Brent Bauer will moderate the discussion and explain the science of massage for athletes.

Continuing Education Sessions

Continuing Education and Schedule: You'll receive your full schedule and a ticket for each course and social event that you registered for when you pick up your registration materials. For exact class times and room numbers, pick up a copy of the Show Daily each day. Schedule-at-a-Glance »

Handouts: Session handouts will be distributed outside of each classroom. If the speaker has authorized us to distribute their presentation handouts, you will have access to these on AMTA's website.

Class Needs & Tables: Some classes have required materials. Review the supplies needed before convention and make sure you're prepared for your education sessions. Courses noted as hands-on require your own massage tables. Participants are responsible for other materials (sheets, lotion, etc.) necessary for each class as well. Class Descriptions »

Table Storage: If you're bringing a massage table, AMTA has storage options on-site.

Guests are welcome, but badges are required at all times. No children 16 or under in the Exhibit Hall or education sessions.

Prepare for Milwaukee

What to Pack: Check the weather in advance, but you can expect October highs in the 50s. We suggest business casual attire for general classes, comfortable clothing for hands-on classes and semi-formal attire for the Dinner Dance. Be sure to wear layers for potentially cool education session rooms.
