Get Ready for AMTA National Convention!

The AMTA 2015 National Convention is August 19-22! We’re excited to come together with the massage therapy profession in Pittsburgh. You'll have more opportunities than ever to discover new products and valuable ideas to supplement your practice. Here are some helpful tips as you prepare for AMTA National Convention.

AMTA 2015 National Convention Location

The David L. Lawrence Convention Center will host education sessions, the Exhibit Hall and on-site registration/badge pick-up. Address: 1000 Fort Duquesne Boulevard, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The Westin Convention Center Hotel will host Opening Session & Business Meeting, Dinner Dance and some pre-convention trainings. Address: 1000 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Travel & Hotel Tips

Transportation: Pittsburgh International Airport is about 25 minutes from the convention center. Cabs, shuttles and a convenient bus service are available.

Get Acclimated

Check In and Badges: When you arrive at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, visit AMTA's Registration Desk on the third floor to pick up your badge, education and event tickets and each morning’s Show Daily (to avoid the longest lines, we suggest arriving early).

Opening Session with Scott Hamilton

The Opening Session and Business Meeting is Thursday, August 20 from 8:30-11am in the Westin Hotel's Allegheny Ballroom. Hear from keynote speaker Scott Hamilton and celebrate our annual awards presentation.

When to Arrive: Doors will open at 7:45am at the Westin Hotel's Allegheny Ballroom. Please be patient and courteous with other attendees! Remember, attendees must be registered and display their badge at all times.

Get your photo taken with Scott Hamilton! Visit AMTA's booth, #313, following Opening Session and our convention photographer will capture the moment.

Continuing Education Sessions

Continuing Education and Schedule: You'll receive your full schedule and a ticket for each course and social event that you registered for when you pick up your registration materials. For exact class times and room numbers, pick up a copy of the Show Daily each day. SCHEDULE-AT-A-GLANCE >>

Handouts: Session handouts will be distributed outside of each classroom. If the speaker has authorized us to distribute their presentation handouts, you will have access to these on AMTA's website.

Class Needs: Make sure you review the required materials prior to convention. Courses noted as hands-on require massage tables. Participants are responsible for any other materials (sheets, lotion, etc.) necessary for each class. CLASS DESCRIPTIONS >>

Table Rental and Storage: The AMTA Pennsylvania Chapter is offering table rentals for out-of-town attendees taking hands-on classes. If you're bringing a table, the chapter has storage options. TABLE RESERVATIONS >>

Prepare for Pittsburgh

What to Pack: Check the weather in advance, but you can expect August highs in the 80s. We suggest business casual attire for general classes, comfortable clothing for hands-on classes and semi-formal attire for the Dinner Dance. Be sure to wear layers for potentially cool meeting rooms.
