On December 23, 2014, the AMTA Board of Directors accepted the resignation of AMTA Member-at-Large S. Pualani Gillespie from her position on the Board of Directors, citing personal reasons.
The Board of Directors would like to recognize the many years of dedicated service Gillespie has given to the massage therapy profession. She has been involved in the health care industry for 30 years with an emphasis on medical and rehabilitative massage and sports injury recovery. Her service to AMTA includes national Member-at-Large, Hawaii Chapter President and Hawaii Chapter Vice President. She has served on committees and task forces to develop standards and policies on the national and local levels. Most recently, she helped redevelop the Medicare Health Outcome survey to evaluate effectiveness of care and the core health status component.
Every member has benefited from Pua’s contribution to AMTA and her work has served to elevate the profession of massage therapy and bodywork. Her keen insight is a loss to the association, but Pua’s legacy is the indelible compassion and call to duty she has imparted to those who have had the pleasure to work with her through the years.
Ms. Gillespie’s resignation will create a vacancy on the incoming Board of Directors.
