Education Requirements

• 600 education hours from a board-approved massage therapy school or 1,000 hours of apprenticeship.

These hours must include:

• • • 285 hours massage theory, massage techniques including the five basic Swedish massage strokes, and hands-on instruction
      
      

    • 125 hours anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology
      
      

    • 100 hours clinic 
      
      

    • 40 hours pathology
      
      

    • 35 hours professional standards, ethics, and business practices
      
      

    • 15 hours sanitation and universal precautions including CPR and first aid
