Maryland State Board of Massage Therapy Examiners

Education Requirements

• 750 education hours from a board-approved massage therapy school.

These hours must include:

• • • 200 hours in massage therapy
      
      
    • 175 hours in supervised hands-on techniques
      
      
    • 100 hours in anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology
      
      
    • 100 hours in supervised clinical experience/practicum
      
      
    • 50 hours in contraindications to massage therapy and pathology
      
      
    • 50 hours in clinical assessment and documentation
      
      
    • 35 hours in professional standards and business practices
      
      
    • 30 hours in professional ethics
      
      
    • 5 hours in health and hygiene
      
      
    • 5 hours in research
