Research Shows Acupressure Reduces Chronic Neck Pain

The Massage Therapy Foundation publishes a monthly research study synopsis, with reference to the original article, on MassageToday.com. In this month’s MTF Research Column, we took a critical look at the effects of acupressure outlined in the study “Comparative Effects of Acupressure at Local and Distal Acupuncture Points on Pain Conditions and Autonomic Function in Females with Chronic Neck Pain” which was published in the journal Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine. Read the article on the MTF Blog.

Share your experience and broaden the evidence base

Case reports are the number one way for massage therapists to contribute to the research landscape. Each year, the Massage Therapy Foundation conducts a Practitioner Case Report Contest (PCRC) to encourage therapists to share their expertise with others in the field. The 2012 contest deadline is coming up on October 1st. Read the full guidelines and submit your report on the MTF website.

Research-track education at AMTA National Convention

We are excited to be a part of the AMTA National Convention, October 3-6, 2012, in Raleigh, North Carolina. For research-based continuing education, choose from several Research Track Courses, or the Post-Convention workshop with Ben Benjamin, The Assessment and Treatment of the Most Common Cervical Injuries, whose proceeds benefit the Foundation.

Have fun for a good cause!

Come golf with us the day before AMTA National Convention begins! Join supporters of the Massage Therapy Foundation on Wednesday, October 3 for the 2nd annual MTF Golf Outing. Proceeds from this fun event benefit the Foundation. Learn all of the details and register on our website.
