The AMTA 2019 National Convention in Indianapolis, October 24-26 brought together massage therapists from across the country for an inspiring week of learning, making new connections and fun!  It was a memorable few days for the massage therapy community.

Robyn Benincasa, World Champion Adventure Racer & CNN Hero 

During Opening Session, Keynote Speaker, Robyn Benincasa World Champion Adventure Racer & CNN Hero set the tone by sharing stories of world-class teams adapting, overcoming and winning against the toughest of odds.

She encouraged attendees to embrace their fellow AMTA "teammates" because together they can rise to any challenge and accomplish the extraordinary! The crowd left inspired and ready for a great few days together!

AMTA President Christopher Deery   

AMTA President Christopher Deery shared the personal story of his massage therapy career and announced national award recipients. 

President Deery also announced that AMTA will provide a minimum of $580,000 to the Massage Therapy Foundation this year. AMTA's support helps MTF carry out its mission to advance the knowledge and practice of massage therapy through scientific research, education and community service. 

AMTA: The Most Trusted + The Most Respected Name in Massage Therapy 

In the Opening Session & Business Meeting, Executive Director Bill Brown shared that AMTA has grown to nearly 93,000 members and that the organization's success belongs to you - each and every one of our members. 

He emphasized that for three years in a row, AMTA has been named the most trusted and the most respected brand in massage therapy by both massage therapists and the American people.

Melissa Stockwell, U.S. War Hero & World Champion Para-Triathlete 

New to the Convention this year, a Friday General Session featured Keynote Speaker Melissa Stockwell, an American war hero and world champion para-triathlete. Melissa told her personal journey of overcoming tragedy and achieving greatness while giving back to others. Everyone left inspired and ready to dive into a day of learning and connecting! 

The Time is Now for Massage Therapists 

During Closing Session, Daniel Pink, Best Selling Author of The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing talked about how to make the most of your precious time. He shared timing secrets that massage therapists can use to make smarter decisions for their practice and to better serve clients.

In addition, a panel of thought leaders - Retired Colonel Bruce Schoneboom from the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and Nicole Hemmenway from the U.S. Pain Foundation - discussed the latest science on massage therapy for pain management - reminding the audience that what they do matters and their time is now - ending the 2019 National Convention on a high note!
