Registration and Packets

Visit the AMTA Registration Desk to pick up your registration packet. It is located in the Convention Center. The packet includes:

  1.     A badge (which must be worn at all times)
  2.     A full program schedule
  3.     Tickets for your CE courses and social events

Opening Session

Start your AMTA 2019 National Convention experience with AMTA’s opening session and business meeting, featuring keynote speaker Robyn Benincasa, Founder of Project Athena and CNN Hero. Doors will open at 8:15am and remember a badge is required.

General Session

Kick off Friday morning with Melissa Stockwell, an American War Hero and World Champion Triathlete. Hear her inspiring story before starting your CE courses for the day. Doors will open at 8:15am and a badge is required. 


Continuing Education Sessions

The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a continuing education Approved Provider. To receive CE credit for classes, you must sign in at each session no later than 15 minutes after the published start time. Class attendance is monitored, and you must be present for the entire session to receive credit. CE credits are posted to your AMTA online CE transcript at amtamasssage.org within 45 days post meeting.

Make sure to review the class needs for your CE sessions. If you need to bring a massage table, AMTA kindly offers you complimentary overnight table storage at the Convention Center.

How to Find Your CE Sessions & Events

AMTA Show Daily 

Pick up the AMTA Show Daily every morning when you arrive at the Indiana Convention Center. It includes classroom numbers and other up-to-date information to help you navigate the AMTA National Convention.

AMTA 2019 National Convention App

Get the AMTA 2019 National Convention App, it’s free on the app store! This is another way to stay organized throughout the convention. You can find room numbers, a convention center map, and a scheduling tool in the app.

Earning Continuing Education (CE) Credit

  • Have your ticket in hand when you approach a CE session, and be wearing your badge.
  • Sign the attendance roster.
  • AMTA will report CE credits earned at the AMTA 2019 National Convention to state massage licensing boards. After the convention, check your AMTA member profile for an updated CE transcript.

Meet and Greets

After seeing the Opening Session with Robyn Benincasa, you will want to get a photo with her! Her passion and drive to overcome challenges will inspire you to be your best and get you in the right frame of mind for the 2019 National Convention. She will be in the Exhibit Hall on Thursday, October 24 following Opening Session to meet you.

Get a chance to meet (and take a photo with) the Closing Session speaker, Daniel Pink, on Saturday, October 26 at 11:45am in the Exhibit Hall. He will share timing secrets that you can use to make smarter decisions for your practice, better serve your clients, and gain a deeper sense of purpose in your massage therapy career and life - ending your 2019 National Convention a high note.

Don’t forget to wear your badge, or you will miss out on these exciting events! 


Social Events

The Exhibit Hall Opening Night Reception will take place on Thursday, October 24, 5:30pm – 7:30pm—all registered attendees are welcome!  Thank you to our presenting sponsor Massage Warehouse.

Then Friday evening, October 25, 5:00-7:00pm, join us for a Fall Fest in the exhibit hall.

Dinner Dance, sponsored by Performance Health will take place on Saturday, October 26, doors open at 7:00pm. Celebrate a successful convention with the ultimate 80s new-wave tribute band, the Spazmatics! 

Each full registration includes one ticket to Dinner Dance. Additional tickets may be purchased at the AMTA Registration Desk for $85.

Preparing for Indianapolis

What to Pack

Check the weather in advance, but you can expect highs in the 50s - 60s and lows in the 40s in Indianapolis if you will be exploring the city in the evenings.

Suggested attire at the 2019 National Convention:

  • Layers are recommended as rooms may be cool
  • Business casual for general classes
  • Comfortable clothing for hands-on classes - athletic tops may be helpful for focusing on upper bodywork
  • Semi-formal attire for the Dinner Dance 

Pack plenty of business cards for networking.

Creating a Safe and Successful AMTA National Convention

Badges are required at all times. 

  • No infants or children under the age of 16 will be admitted to convention programs.
  • Professional photography and/or video recording are prohibited without advance, written permission from AMTA. No selfie sticks are allowed, as a courtesy to others.
  • Before using any new product or service, make sure you are knowledgeable about the massage therapy scope of practice by checking with your state’s massage therapy regulatory authority.
  • Any person engaged in disruptive behavior of any kind may be removed from the premises at the discretion of AMTA or the facility.
