Explore Indianapolis, IN During the AMTA 2019 National Convention

Indianapolis is more than just the home of the 2019 AMTA National Convention. Bring your family and extend your stay to take in one of Condé Nast Traveler’s Best Big Cities of 2018

Here are Top 5 ways to take in Indy in October:

Cultural Trail

Explore Indy’s 8-mile foot and bike trail through neighborhoods and parks to take in the best sites of the city. The city’s Indiana Pacer Bikeshare system has plenty of locations along the trail and around the city to help you get around on two wheels.

Monuments and memorials

Monuments and memorials are everywhere downtown. Indianapolis is second only to Washington, DC for the number of monuments across the city. For a view of the whole city go to the top of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, or be in the center of it all at the Indiana War Memorial Plaza.

Museums

Indianapolis boasts plenty of museums to meet the interests of everyone. Art fans will be inspired at the Indianapolis Museum of Art and the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western art. Get hands-on with history at the Indiana State Museum and visit the world’s largest children’s museum for a one-of-a-kind experience exploring more than 120,000 artifacts on five levels. The Indianapolis Zoo combines zoo, aquarium and botanical garden in one place, and is a Trip Advisor Top 10 Zoo.

White River State Park

There’s more than one way to experience White River State Park’s Central Canal. Whether you prefer a gondola, bike, or pedal boat you’ll take in public art, war memorials, and find cafes to stop in.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway

You can’t think Indy without thinking race cars. Visit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Museum to take in the history of the “Racing Capital of the World” and the largest single-day sporting event.
