Massage Therapy for Health Conditions

A growing body of research supports the health benefits of massage therapy for conditions such as low back pain, fibromyalgia, stress and more. Research is especially strong in the areas of pain relief and stress reduction.

Manage Low Back Pain With Massage Therapy

Back pain is the second most common neurological ailment in the United States. Research indicates massage therapy can decrease low back pain, reduce disability associated with low back pain and lower anxiety/depression associated with low back pain.

Fibromyalgia Patients Can Benefit From Massage Therapy

According to the American Chronic Pain Association, fibromyalgia affects more than 6 million Americans. Studies show massage therapy can help reduce pain, improve the quality of life, decrease anxiety and depression and more in those with fibromyalgia syndrome.

Massage Therapy for Stress Reduction

In a study on trigger point therapy, there was a significant decrease in heart rate, systolic blood pressure, and diastolic blood pressure. Measures of oxygen consumption, blood pressure, and salivary cortisol levels were all lower after a 10 to 15 minute chair massage in controlled studies.
