Welcome to De Anza's Massage Therapy Program
De Anza College is the first community college in California to offer a state chancellor approved certificate and degree program in Massage Therapy and is CAMTC approved. The program was founded in 1992 to instruct students in an eclectic approach to massage therapy with emphasis placed in the areas of international, sports, and deep tissue massage. The program at De Anza is based upon the medical model which requires comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. The intent of the program is to prepare students for gainful employment in this rapidly growing field, which is quickly becoming part of the mainstream of our society.
De Anza's mission is to offer students:
- An affordable vocational opportunity in a multi-cultural and ethnically diverse environment.
- A fundamental and advanced massage program preparing them for employment.
- A community massage clinic.
- An up-to-date and academically challenging curriculum.
- Continuing education opportunities.
- Professional ethics and business development training.
De Anza offers a 25.5 unit (516 hour) Certificate of Achievement, a 44.5 unit (876 hour) Certificate of Achievement Advanced, and a 52 unit Associate in Arts degree (1020 hour). The certificate programs take about two years to complete. Classes are offered, in the fall, winter, spring quarters, and summer session.
