About Marissa

Marissa is a licensed massage therapist in New Haven, CT, and graduate of Potomac Massage Training Institute in Washington, D.C. She is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association and specializes in relaxation techniques as well as the treatment of chronic and acute muscle pain caused by stress, overuse and injury. She uses a combination of massage modalities tailored to each client's needs, including Swedish, Deep Tissue, myofascial release, and meuromuscular therapy.

Marissa graduated from American University in Washington, D.C., with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism. Upon graduation, she began a career as an editor and eventually moved on to speechwriting. She sought massage therapy to ease the stress of her hectic lifestyle and to maintain a sense of well-being. She was inspired by how well massage therapy improved her life and decided to help others do the same through the healing power of touch.

Marissa returned from living Peru in 2011, where she had a private practice and helped found the Healing House, a non-profit organization dedicated to the healing and growth of the global community. She is now based in New Haven, CT, and is the owner of Elm City Wellness. She hosts annual visits to Peru to continue her work, inviting others to join her.
