The Magic of Money: How to Tell Where It All Disappears - 2 CE Hours

Instructor: Margo Bowman
Margo Bowman has been a practicing accountant for over fifty-four years, specializing in small business taxation and record keeping. She is a licensed Tax Consultant (LTC) in Oregon & Enrolled Agent (EA) in IRS designation. Margo also is a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) in Oregon giving her a unique insight into the needs of the massage therapy industry.

It has been said “When your out go exceeds your income, then your upkeep will be your downfall.” This session will provide information on ways to increase income and reduce expenses to have more of your hard earned dollars for your personal pocket. Attendees will receive a checklist to determine which areas to focus on and a list of free resources to assist in the process. Bring note taking materials.

Transition From Clients to Patients [Health Care Track] - 2 CE Hours

Instructor: Elizabeth McIntyre
Elizabeth McIntyre has extensive experience in the health care field as a nurse, educator, administrator, author and consultant with a concentrated focus on therapeutic massage.  Her health care knowledge and abilities enable her to transition treatment sessions from clients to patients with ease.

This presentation will educate participants about successful strategies to gain access to healthcare facilities to provide hands-on care. Strategies from presenting ideas to physicians and staff, and preparing oneself to enter a world that may be different from their typical practice setting will be discussed. Readiness, awareness and professionalism are key concepts for the MT’s success, which will have a positive impact on patients and staff.

Beware of Bugs? What You Should Know About Scabies and Lice - 2 CE Hours

Instructor: Annie Morien
Annie Morien, PhD, PA-C, LMT, is a dermatology physician’s assistant with extensive clinical experience diagnosing and treating patients with various skin diseases.  She teaches skin disease CE workshops to professional bodyworkers, and is the author of numerous scientific research publications, massage therapy articles, and on-line courses.  Dr. Morien maintains a massage therapy practice, teaches at the Florida School of Massage, and is actively involved with AMTA, FSMTA, AFMTE and the Massage Therapy Foundation.

Bug infestations can occur in your massage clinic. In this fun and informative class, the most problematic infestations will be addressed: scabies, lice, ticks and bedbugs.  Discussion includes massage contraindications, methods of protection against infestation, and “clean-up” procedures if an infestation occurs.  Identification of bugs and their bites are visually demonstrated with colorful photographs.
