Different personalities handle conflict in different ways. Learning how to manage conflict with different leadership styles helps make a workplace less stressful. This session discusses several different leadership styles and personality types, how each manages conflict and how to manage conflict with each type in a constructive ad communicative way in order to contribute to a productive work environment.
This course is presented with a video and audio component.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand that recognizing sources of conflict gives you keys to addressing them
- Describe the role of six leadership styles in conflict
- Describe three arms of successful working relationships
- Describe the best communication style for successful conflict transformation

About the author(s)
Nathan Nordstrom has gained experience by working in retreat spas, medical offices, and owned a day spa. He currently teaches at University of Western States, where he helped in the writing and development of the massage program. He is the lead presenter and curator of Educated Touch. He has been quoted in such publications as Massage Therapy Journal and Massage Magazine. Nathan has been an active volunteer as president of the Oregon chapter of AMTA, and served two years as member at large on the national board of AMTA. He assists on committees for both AMTA ad NCBTMB. He also donates annually to the Massage Therapy Foundation to support and expand research on massage therapy.
Stephanie Jensen started massage school after having her son Jeffery in 2004. She graduated with honors and started work as an independent contractor in an office with 7 other therapists and a naturopathic physician. She opened Advanced Bodywork and Massage where she has mentored and managed two other therapists. She completed her life coaching certificiation in spring of 2012 after her 3rd serious physical injury that jeopardized her massage therapy career. Her goals are to coach therapists and clients in behavioral understanding and modification for healthy balance in the physical, emotional and social aspects of life. She has been working with Educated Touch in developing and teaching programs to help advance the future of massage therapy in the medical field.
