Dealing with Ethical Gray Areas in Massage Therapy

Author(s): Jean Middleswarth

2CE credits 3 Lessons Text

In your massage therapy practice you will encounter ethical problems and issues for which you do not have straightforward solutions. Codes of ethics for the massage therapy profession will help clarify these ethical gray areas, but rarely give you a “black and white” solution. This course shows you how to use codes of ethics and a decision-making model to determine solutions for your professional ethical problems.

This course counts towards NCBTMB’s Ethics credit requirement.

When you finish this course, you will be able to:

  • Define morals, values and ethics.
  • List steps in the ethical decision-making process.
  • Discuss what questions to ask when evaluating solutions to ethical problems.
  • Apply the decision-making model to professional ethical dilemmas.

  1. Ethical Professional Practice
  2. A Decision-Making Model for Ethical Dilemmas
  3. Applying the Decision-Making Model to Ethical Dilemmas
