Educators Convene at the AMTA 2013 National Convention!

Teachers Convene!

Featuring targeted educational sessions, an inspiring keynote speaker and a panel of experts on health care integration, the AMTA  2013 National Convention brought together some 1,300 participants, September 25-28 in Fort Worth, Texas. Massage therapy educators from around the country came together to engage in the specialized Teachers Track sessions led by experts in the profession.

Educator-focused sessions included "The Entry-Level Analysis Project and Your School," "Presence in Classroom Management" and "Developing Critical Thinkers Through Exams."

Networking events, both formal and informal, filled the time between education sessions and gave educators a chance to connect with other professionals passionate about massage and teaching. To the right, AMTA Jerome Perlinski Teacher of the Year Rick Garbowski is honored at Friday's Teacher's Celebration Luncheon.

Attendees were also inspired by opening Keynote Speaker Doc Hendley, who spoke to the power of pursuing your passion to overcome obstacles and staying focused on serving others. His amazing story of changing his life to bring fresh water to needy people around the world moved the audience and set the tone for a rewarding convention experience! The Convention closed with a panel of experts who addressed current issues in health care and their impact on massage therapists and the profession.

Student Day! Prepping for a Bright Future

AMTA continued its very successful Student Day program, with more than 200 students attending informational sessions on planning for their careers and learning good business practices. More than 30 students from Missouri traveled overnight by bus to attend the activities. This included students visiting the exhibit hall and interacting with experienced massage therapists throughout the day.
