I’d like to introduce myself as not only your new AMTA President, but as a fellow educator and massage therapy school owner. As your peer, I know many of the issues and challenges you’re faced with everyday. As your president, I’m dedicated to helping you overcome those issues with the tools and resources you need.
That’s where AMTA comes in. We offer so many School member benefits and resources—I hope that you’re aware of and already using them at your school. If not, this issue of School Advantage has information on many of our resources that will give your school and students a competitive advantage. From our Business of Massage Instructor resources (now available online!) to our Fast Facts for Schools to our new Teacher Talk initiative that keeps you in-touch with fellow educators, we have many tools to keep your school in business and your teachers informed. View the extensive list of AMTA School member benefits.
Speaking of staying connected, I was fortunate to meet and share valuable conversations with so many of you last month at AMTA’s 2012 Schools Summit in Chicago. Our focused education really opened up dialogue between our School members in attendance, and you can find some of the key take-aways in this issue of School Advantage. I gained so many ideas at the networking events and I truly enjoyed being in the company of our members. Having face-to-face conversations is an amazing way to learn and really find out what others in the profession are doing to address challenges and solve problems. I was thrilled to be part of this very successful Schools Summit! Thank you to those who attended, and we hope to see more of you in the next year.
I’m just beginning my year as president, and, most of all, I want to know what AMTA can do to help you succeed. How are your benefits working for you? What new benefits would be most valuable to your school and students? Let me know! Email me your ideas at firstname.lastname@example.org. Together, we will elevate the profession.
To a successful (and busy!) year ahead,
