Announcing the 2011 Student Case Report Contest

Although it looks a long way away, March 1st is right around the corner and this is the deadline to submit your entry in the Massage Therapy Foundation Student Case Report Contest. If your school is going to participate, it is time for your students to get started! The Student Case Report Contest is an opportunity for your students to shine on an international stage. The Gold Prize winner is invited to attend the AMTA National Meeting to present his or her findings, and all winning submissions are invited to submit for publication in the International Journal of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork or the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies. Winners who go through peer review for the publication process are also awarded a substantial cash prize.
• For all U.S. & international massage schools
• Deadline: March 1, 2011
• Up to three entries per school
• Report must be written while an enrolled student, but may be submitted after graduation
• Guidelines and applications available online at

Teaching Research Literacy (TRL)

TRL is an 8-hour NCB-approved workshop for massage educators on incorporating the basic principles of research literacy into your school’s existing curriculum. School owners and administrators: your school can become known as a leader in research literacy. Attend this workshop yourself, and support your educators and curriculum writers to attend as well.

If your school is interested in hosting a TRL workshop in 2011, please contact Alison Pittas at

A New Issue of IJTMB Is Now Available

The International Journal of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (IJTMB) is a peer-reviewed, open-source electronic publication with three main sections: education, research, and practice. This is an invaluable resource for massage therapy students and educators, and we encourage you to use it freely. We know of no easier way to get your students thinking about evidence-based practice and research literacy than by introducing them to the IJTMB. Check out the latest issue here:
