AMTA Board President Nathan Nordstrom offers a message of thanks:
"I am so excited for the future of AMTA and our profession. We returned from our 2016 national convention, which had amazing opening and closing keynote speakers, energized and looking ahead. The convention and Thanksgiving reminded me of what to be thankful for.
In my charge this year as president, I have pushed a few key points to our members. First – life is a challenge, live up to it. There are a lot of challenges we have in life and in our personal approaches to being massage therapists. However, as Robin Roberts stated, 'If you put your challenges in a pile with everyone else’s, you would take your own and run.'
Second – show gratitude for the big and the small. This includes the gifts and the challenges. The other day my son said, 'Dad, this shoe has rubber soles. That means I can walk over rocks. I am so glad I can walk over rocks.' I would not have thought to show gratitude for rubber soled shoes.
I am so thankful for our membership. Without you, we would not be able to do the many things this association does to help make the profession great. That is why this year I presented the President’s Award to all members of this association. We make things great by working together and supporting each other. From the new student to the therapist who has been at it for 50+ years, you make massage therapy a better profession. Thank you."
