Your Massage Therapy Foundation is Running the 2015 Boston Marathon

We are pleased to announce the members of Team MTF-Running for Research that will participate in the 2015 Boston Marathon. We have three massage therapists running this year. John Combe, the Massage Therapy Foundation’s selected runner, is a clinical massage therapist and the owner of Combe’s Wellness Center in La Grande, Oregon. Nathan Nordstrom, selected by the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA), is the Therapeutic Massage Program Director at Virginia College in Savannah, Georgia. Angie Parris-Raney, selected by Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP), is the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Advertising for ABMP in Golden Colorado.

2015 Call for Abstracts for AMTA National Convention Poster Session

Research posters are an excellent way to visually present research findings at a scientific event or a professional setting. The Massage Therapy Foundation (MTF) poster sessions are a showcase of research done by community service and research grant recipients as well as other massage therapy researchers in the field. The submission deadline is April 6, 2015. Please take note that the convention is set to take place August 19-22, 2015 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

2015 Grants and Contests

The Massage Therapy Foundation offers many opportunities to advance the massage therapy profession. Three different options are available:

  • Research Grants-funds research studies investigating the beneficial applications of massage therapy. Awards are up to $30,000. Deadline to apply: Monday, March 2, 2015.
  • Community Service Grants-awarded to charitable organizations that provide massage therapy to those having no or little access to such services. Awards are up to $5,000. Deadline to apply: Thursday, April 1, 2015.
  • Practitioner and Student Case Report Contests-intended to enhance professional development and research skills. Deadline to apply: Practitioner Case Reports-Thursday, October 1, 2015, Student Case Reports-Monday, June, 1, 2015.

Save the date for the 2016 International Massage Therapy Research Conference

The Massage Therapy Foundation (MTF) is proud to host the 2016 International Massage Therapy Research Conference (IMTRC) which will take place May 12-15, 2016, at the Renaissance ® Seattle Hotel in Seattle, Washington.

This is the fourth research conference hosted by the Massage Therapy Foundation, bringing together massage and manual therapy practitioners, educators, CIM researchers, allied health professionals, and others interested in massage research. Learn more about our previous conferences here. We will be announcing more details in the coming months, including a call for presenters, and ways to sponsor this important event.
