Advancing the Profession

Save the Date for National Massage Therapy Awareness Week

AMTA's 15th annual National Massage Therapy Awareness Week® (NMTAW) is Oct. 23-29, 2011! Join AMTA members across the nation as they raise the public's understanding about the benefits of massage by attracting media attention and by demonstrating their professionalism and skill.

Chapters, Professional members, Student members and School members are encouraged to share their expertise through massage demonstrations, volunteer opportunities and by displaying AMTA's awareness poster--you'll find it in your fall issue of mtj. Share the benefits of massage with your community by participating in NMTAW 2011!

AMTA-WA Chapter Leaders Instrumental in Advancing Critical Legislation

AMTA Chapter leaders looked on as Washington Governor Christine Gregoire signed HB 1133 last month. The bill was introduced by Representative Laurie Jinkins at the behest of the chapter. It requires all licensed massage practitioners to display their license number on their advertising materials. This is intended to curb unlicensed practice and make unlicensed practitioners who are advertising their services easily identifiable.
