March Issue: Governance Corner

New Vision Statement to Guide Future Directions

Each summer as part of its planning process, the AMTA Board of Directors meets to review trends impacting our profession. Last summer’s meeting incorporated feedback from members and included an interactive dialogue with AMTA volunteers and chapter members.
With a vision of the profession’s future in mind, the board charted a direction for AMTA for the new fiscal year beginning March 1, 2011. For the first time, our future directions include a vision statement to help guide planning and initiatives for the year ahead.

FY 2011/2012 Vision Statement:
As the most trusted professionals in massage therapy, American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) members are integral to health care and wellness.

To help realize this vision, the board also put forth goals and objectives to help shape and guide AMTA’s activities. This detailed planning process ensures that we aren’t just responding to members’ current needs, but also addressing areas where the profession needs to progress and developing the benefits members need in order to be primed for future success.
