AMTA is happy to announce that Dr. Annie Morien of the Florida School of Massage is this year’s recipient of AMTA’s Jerome Perlinski Teacher of the Year Award. Each year, AMTA presents this award to an instructor in an AMTA member school who demonstrates exceptional teaching abilities and commitment to high standards of education in massage therapy. This award honors the memory of Jerome Perlinski, an extraordinary educator and much loved leader.
“Dr. Annie,” as her students affectionately address her, has taught at the Florida School of Massage for the past 16 years. She teaches anatomy, physiology, pathology, research, and Professional Medical Notes. She also taught for several years at Carlson College of Massage Therapy in Iowa, and at several universities in Texas, Iowa and Florida.
AMTA’s Jerome Perlinski Award is one way AMTA recognizes the importance of a quality massage therapy education to continually advance the next generation of massage therapists. “Annie is a role model to her students,” says AMTA President Jeff Smoot. “Her students and fellow teachers say she conveys excitement for the material she covers in class, and demonstrates professionalism and passion for massage therapy.”
Annie will receive her award during the AMTA 2015 National Convention, to be held August 19-22 in Pittsburgh, PA. She will also be recognized during a celebration luncheon on Teachers Day Friday, August 21.
