Get Involved Through an AMTA Elected Position

Would you like to take the next step in serving our profession and participate with fellow members at the national level? Consider running for an elected office for the National Board of Directors or Commission on Candidacy.

View the criteria for Board or Commission on Candidacy positions in the National Election section. Remember that some elected positions involve less of a time commitment than other positions.

Candidate applications are available beginning July 1, and the application process must be completed by September 1. Here are the application process steps:

  • Complete these three online courses (member login required): About Non-Profit Associations, Responsibilities and Communications throughout AMTA and Risk Management for Associations;
  • Once the courses are completed, you can access and complete the online application packet;
  • After the Commission on Candidacy has reviewed the application and determined that you meet the position requirements, your candidate profile will be posted live in AMTA’s National Election section;
  • You can choose to begin using social media as a candidate.

If you're interested in serving, contact the Commission on Candidacy via Gail Friedman, AMTA staff liaison to the Commission on Candidacy.

The Commissioner of Elections and Commission on Candidacy welcome your questions, comments and ideas.

Chris Rider, Commissioner of Elections
Barb Lis, Commission on Candidacy Chair
2012 Commissioners: Mary Donker-Syvertsen, Julie Beth Finn, Lori Keith and Shari Mirgon
