AMTA Elects National Board Officers, Members

Evanston, IL (December 29, 2005) – The American Massage Therapy Association® (AMTA®) announces the results of its 2005 national election, conducted via mail among its Professional members. Leena Guptha of Pennsylvania was elected President-Elect and will serve in that position from March 1, 2006 until March 1, 2007 when she will assume the position of national president. M.K. Brennan of North Carolina was re-elected as a Vice President and William J. Greenberg of Connecticut was elected to fill the other open Vice President position. Both will serve two-year terms beginning March 1, 2006.

Four people were elected as Members-at-large on the AMTA National Board of Directors. All will serve two-year terms beginning this March: Elected - Paul V. Berry Jr. (GA), Cheryl L. Tardy (CT)
Re-elected - Kathie Lea (LA), Glenath Moyle (OR)

William (Lou) Castleman (TX), Kathleen Crewdson (CT), Kerry L. Methot (CT), and Todd Simmons (MI) were elected to the 2006 Commission on Candidacy and will coordinate the candidate search for the 2006 election

A total of 4,066 valid ballots were received for the national board election – 11.2% of Professional members- a percentage slightly higher than the percentage of members who vote in other professional association elections. View the photos of those elected to the National Board of Directors.

The American Massage Therapy Association is a non-profit, professional association with more than 54,000 members throughout the U.S. and in some 27 other countries. The association is directed by volunteer leadership chosen through its national election and fosters ongoing, direct member-involvement through its 52 chapters.
