Evanston, IL – The American Massage Therapy Association
(AMTA) publication mtj® (Massage
Therapy Journal®) has won Folio
magazine’s gold Ozzie award, the highest honor, for best
overall design for a non-profit/association
publication.
mtj was also
the awarded a bronze Ozzie for illustrations for the
article “Hidden Hardware” from the Spring 2007
issue.
“The
design was a mirror of not only the concept and idea but
the overall message of the publication,” the Ozzie
judges noted. “Each article felt comfortable in the
design and flowed together from column to review to
feature with ease. A veritable eye massage.”
Folio magazine’s Ozzie awards recognize excellence in
magazine design and are judged by a distinguished panel
of publishing professionals. A record breaking 3,000
entries were submitted this year with only 153 Ozzies
awarded. The awards are open to all magazines
including consumer, association and
business-to-business.
“We
are extremely proud of the redesign of mtj and
are honored to receive these prestigious awards,” said
Valerie Danner, mtj managing editor. “This is a
great accomplishment for our magazine, our members, and
for the massage therapy profession.”
mtj was also
the recipient of three national awards from the Society
of National Association Publications (SNAP) in 2007 for
general excellence, most improved and outstanding
innovation in association publishing.
The
American Massage Therapy Association is a non-profit,
professional association with more than 57,000 members
throughout the United States and in some 27 other
countries. The association is directed by volunteer
leadership chosen through its national election and
fosters ongoing, direct-member-involvement through its
51 chapters.
