e-touch is a
monthly news publication for AMTA members, nonmembers and consumers interested
in massage therapy. All articles should have a news value or angle for a wide
variety of subscribers, and should be related to areas of massage therapy that
fall within the scope of practice as recognized by AMTA. The publication also
does not accept letters soliciting money. News articles should not be tied to
advertising in any way, as per the ethical guidelines followed by
mtj™
(Massage
Therapy Journal), another publication produced by AMTA.
How to Submit an Article to e-touch
- Send your article or story proposal
via e-mail as a text or Microsoft Word attachment to
etouch@amtamassage.org.
- Should preferably be an original contribution on
a specific modality or business practice in which you specialize. Inform
e-touch editors if it has been published in another massage publication.
- Article must no more 750 words;
column or shorter item no more than 500 words.
Article should not
be commercial in nature (i.e., no advertising of business, services or
products). Any apparent evidence of this by e-touch editorial staff
will cause the article not to be accepted.
May mention in passing, but must not promote
proprietary firms, products or services.
The editorial staff will try
to respect the wishes of all AMTA departments’, chapters’ or staff requests
to publish news and event information, but acceptance for publication will
depend on when the material arrives, the newsworthiness and space
availability, and compliance with AMTA editorial policy.
Articles must be submitted by
the deadline set by the editor to be considered for each issue. Articles
submitted after deadline may be published in a later issue.
4. The article must
also include the following:
- A suggested title.
- Must place your professional titles, degrees and contact
information as part of a short biography at the end.
- Photos, charts and tables are strongly encouraged.
Digital images need to be taken in low resolution (72 dpi) and can be e-mailed
to the above address. Copies of articles, photos, charts and tables can be
mailed to: e-touch Managing Editor, 500 Davis Street,
Suite 900, Evanston, IL 60201-4695. These items can be returned if requested in writing. Where
appropriate, accompany photos with a signed model's release form.
- Hyperlinks are strongly encouraged. Make certain any hypertext links within the article are active and
working. Obtain any necessary approvals and/or permissions from that
company or entity. Links to freely available sources are preferred.
- Also, e-touch
follows the Associated Press Stylebook (39th edition, Basic Books, 2004).
