How to treat a tension headache behind your eyes.
For a tension headache (the type of headache that you can feel behind your either eye and doesn't go away during sleep. Lay on a hard surface - like the floor. Take both of your thumbs and find the base of your skull. If the headache is behind only one eye - just do that side of the skull. Press as hard as you can leaning back on your thumb - or thumbs. Breathe deep and try to hold it as long as you can. It is also O.K. to rub the thumbs back and forth over this spot. You can also use a hard object - like a golf ball or a massage tool in place of your thumb(s). Jacquie Lemon-Lovett, Little Rock, AR
Are you a jaw clencher?
Use this simple action when you notice sore teeth, headaches and a need to relax and release this
tension pattern. Locate the tip of your tongue at the center of your pallet or just behind your front teeth- whichever is more comfortable. Notice how you cannot easily clench your teeth together. Do this just before sleep or in stressful situations...and smile, it takes fewer muscles than frowning and sends positive messages to your brain! Start a good habit to break a bad one. From a massage therapist who used to awake with sore teeth! No longer a problem! Rosanne Beaurivage, Concord, NH
