Oftentimes our clients/patients present with a range of symptoms that either do not respond to or have limited success with standard treatment protocols. Debilitating pain, stress and strain keep them searching for relief from a variety of practitioners to no avail. Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a method of alternative medicine that involves manually applying subtle movements to the cranium, sacrum intracranial membranes and spinal meninges to bring the central nervous system into harmony. The beneficial effects of CST include: re-directed fluid flow to increase nutrients to cells and tissue, more efficient removal of metabolic waste, increased electrical communication, release of tension and stress and rebalancing of the autonomic nervous system. When included with other treatment programs, CST has been shown to increase successful results.
This lab-intensive seminar, taught by Ken DiPersio, LMT, and Diana DiPersio, OTR/L, will discuss the origins of CST and it's efficacy in manual therapy protocols. Discuss the normal physiological motion of the craniosacral system and how the system influences overall health. Learn to palpate and assess inherent fluid motion in the body and become aware of restrictions or limitations in that flow. These restrictions or limitations cause symptoms such as chronic pain, central nervous system dysfunction, learning disabilities, coordination problems, chronic fatigue, TMJ dysfunction, seizure disorders, hormonal imbalances and more. After learning to identify restrictions located in the body, you will practice techniques to release those restrictions, empower the body to embrace significant change and become symptom-free. By adding CST to your practice you will gain a deeper understanding of each individual's pattern of dysfunction and the skills to facilitate their unique process.
What You Will Learn:

  1. chronic pain
  2. central nervous system disorders
  3. head and neck pain
  4. TMJ dysfunction
  5. chronic fatigue
  6. seizure disorders
  7. hormonal imbalances and more
  • Understand the craniosacral system's anatomy, physiology and relationship to all other body systems
  • Develop palpation skills to identify, evaluate and release original causes of pain and dysfunction
  • Integrate craniosacral therapy with other modalities to achieve an effective treatment plan
  • Discuss the origins of craniosacral therapy and its impact on treatment programs
  • Understand the anatomy and physiology of the craniosacral system and its relationship to the central nervous system
  • Develop palpation skills to evaluate craniosacral system movement and identify restrictions
  • Perform Stillpoint Induction Technique to bring the craniosacral system to a therapeutic stop
  • Explore the anatomy and physiology of fascia diaphragms
  • Develop palpation skills to perform therapeutic release of cranial diaphragm and thoracic inlet
  • Identify how to successfully integrate craniosacral therapy into your practice
Your Presenter:
Ken DiPersio, LMT, is a Florida Licensed Massage Therapist with 16 years experience treating the causes of pain and dysfunction. Certified in 1991 as a Neuromuscular Therapist, he quickly realized that neuromuscular work, although effective for some, did not go deep enough. This led him to study Craniosacral Therapy with Dr. John Upledger. Certified in craniosacral techniques in 1997, Mr. DiPersio wanted to get this incredible work to more than one client at a time. Mr. DiPersio earned CS1 Certified Instructor status from Upledger in 1999. Mr. DiPersio has taught over 60 classes to date for the Upledger Institute, the Sarasota School of Massage Therapy, Independent Living Pediatrics, the Florida State Massage Therapy Association, the Sarasota School of Natural Healing Arts, Sarasota Memorial Hospital and KJD Therapy, Inc. Mr. DiPersio currently practices CST in Sarasota and St. Petersburg, Florida.
